Bayer HealthCare, the maker of Yasmin, is now coming out with a new birth control pill.
The new birth control, Natazia, will contain a form of estrogen that has never been used in an oral contraceptive before. Women who take this pill, will be taking a combination of hormones or sugar pills every month.
This new pill comes out just as Yaz, another popular birth control made by Bayer, is losing sales due to thousands of women suing the company after developing negative health side effects. The FDA declared the ads for Yaz were misleading and told Bayer that they must run a correction because there were misconceptions about the pill.
Danish researchers found that woman who had taken Yaz or yasmin have a 64 percent higher chance to suffer from a blood clot and some woman are at higher risk an do not even know it. Bayer is now monitoring how the new pill works on 70,000 women, but results will not be known for at least five years.
