The FDA released a note warning of the increased risk of blood clot associated with new generation birth control, Yaz or Yasmin.
It did not say for sure that using the birth control will lead to this, but regulators stated that they are concerned of higher risks. Yasmin and Yaz are both very popular birth control pills and they both contain an ingredient, drospirenone, which may cause Deep-vein thrombosis.
This occurs when a blood clot happens in an extremity, such as the leg, and they become very dangerous if the clot moves to another vital organ. Symptoms include chest pain, leg pain and difficulty breathing. Preliminary results show that women who take drospirenone-containing birth control pills are 50 percent more likely to develop these blood clots than woman who took other contraceptives.
If you or a loved one has been taking either of these birth control pills and suffered a blood clot without being warning of the increased risk, contact the Yasmin blood clot lawyers of Williams Kherkher today by calling 800-761-3187.
