Yasmin is an older version of the popular birth control pill Yaz, both of which have been linked with potentially life-threatening side effects.
Yasmin was originally developed by Berlex, which was later acquired by Bayer Healthcare. The oral contraceptive was aggressively marketed by the drug company and quickly became their best selling product. The United States Food and Drug Administration, however, found that the drug was marketed without adequate warnings about side effects.
Women who have used Yasmin or Yaz birth control have suffered serious side effects from the drug including heart attack, stroke, deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, gallbladder disease, and even sudden death. Multiple lawsuits against the drug’s maker have been filed all over the U.S.
