Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals has introduced a new birth control called Beyaz which many are calling a new version of Yaz.

Yaz birth control has evidence against it that it has an increased risk of blood clots by 64 percent compared to birth control pills that don not contain drospirenone.

The new birth control pill, Beyaz, has just received an okay by the Federal Drug Administration and will contain Folate, also called B9. It is important during pregnancy because it wards off birth defects. The purpose of the addition the birth control is to give mothers and their fetus a head start if there is an unexpected pregnancy because no contraception is 100 percent effective.

Some worry that the launch of the new birth control pill is to “reinvent the pill and take focus off of past concerns” after the lawsuits were filed against Bayer.

Since the cases were consolidated in February, the number of Yasmin, Yaz, and Ocella lawsuits have increased drastically.

The number of cases filed in the Bergen County Superior Court have gone from 39 to 400, according to court documents. The lawsuits were consolidated in New Jersey because the headquarters of the manufacturer of the birth control pills, Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals Inc., is located there.

All of the lawsuits claim similar issues that the side effects associated with the pills caused an increase in stroke, heart attack, pulmonary embolism, deep vein thrombosis, and gallbladder disease. The lawsuits claim that Bayer did not properly warn or research the side effects of the pills.

A West Virginia woman is claiming that her mental and physical health problems were caused by Yaz birth control pills. The 21-year-old woman has now filed a suit against Bayer Corp. alleging that the oral contraceptive gave her negative side effects during the two years she took them.

The woman is claiming that the drug caused her gallbladder to fail and also led to her suicide attempt. The woman began to take the birth control in 2007 after her doctor prescribed them to help with menstrual cramps.

After taking the drug she began to notice pain in her midsection and then learned that her gallbladder was not functioning properly and she later had to have it removed. She then stopped using the pill for short period and began again in April 2009. Se stopped again shortly after because it made her feel sick.

After suffering from severe cramps, she began to take the pill again and this is when she noticed signs of depression and suicidal thoughts. She attempted suicide twice. The woman’s suit claims that the maker of Yaz knew or should have known the risk that it caused to woman who were taking it.
