Woman files suit against Bayer after life-threatening blood clot

A Florida woman has filed a lawsuit against the makers of the oral contraceptive Yaz for allegedly causing her permanent injuries when the prescription medication caused her to suffer a serious blood clot.

In July 2008, the woman suffered from a bilateral pulmonary embolism that she claims would not have occurred if she was not taking the medication.

The woman is claiming that the company was negligent for not properly warning patients of the increased risks that are associated with the medication.  The woman also said that she hopes that this lawsuit helps to warn others of the dangers associated with the oral contraceptive.

Father claims Yasmin birth controlled caused death of daughter, 15

A father has claimed that his 15-year-old daughter was killed because of the Yasmin birth control that she was prescribed by her doctor for her acne.

According to the father, his daughter was not sexually active and her doctor prescribed the oral contraceptive for her acne and pushed it for off-label use. The teenage girl developed a pulmonary embolism from the drug and her father claims that the doctor dismissed it her embolisms as a skin disease.

She died in June 2009 after suffering from blood clots in both lungs. The man has filed a wrongful death  and product liability lawsuit against the manufacturers. This lawsuit now just joined the dozens that have claimed similar things.

Teen develops blood clot after taking Yaz birth control

A 16-year-old allegedly developed serious side effects a month after taking Yaz birth control.

The teenager developed leg pain which then led to pain in her chest and shortness of breathe until her whole leg was numb. The girl was then diagnosed with a blood clot.

The girl’s blood clot then broke off and traveled to the lungs, which is a disorder called a pulmonary embolism and it can be fatal if not caught. The teenager survived the incident and is now suing Bayer for not being properly warned of the side effects that are associated with the birth control.
