The company that manufacturers that oral contraceptive Yasmin, Bayer Pharmaceuticals, has recently been sued by a North Dakota woman that allegedly suffered Deep vein thrombosis after using the birth control pill.

According to officials in the case, the lawsuit was filed in the Southern District Court of Illinois and states that the woman began taking Yasmin and Yaz in 2002. In 2004, the woman developed DVT, a condition that occurs when there is a blood clot deep in the body that causes the blockage in blood flow in the body and possibly an artery in the lung.

In October 2011, the FDA released a study on Yasmin and other drospirenone-containing birth control pills that states that they show an increased risk of causing serious side effects.

Heart disease is currently the leading cause of death for Americans and stroke is the 4th leading cause. These levels are very concerning because they are much too high. Now is the time to learn how to improve your heart health and reduce strokes.

Medicare has now introduced the Million Hearts campaign that is aiming to prevent at least 1 million heart attacks in the next five year period. Heart disease can mean many different conditions and the most common is coronary heart disease.

There are factors that can contribute to poor heart health and this includes a person’s genetics, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and lifestyle choices. DVT treatment and diagnosis methods

Clinical guidelines have been put in place by international experts in order to help with the diagnosis of blood-clotting diseases.

A researcher at the Intermountain Medical Center in Salt Lake City has stated that research needs to be done on the treatment and diagnosis of blood clotting disease such as Deep vein thrombosis because they are such common conditions that can have devastating effects.

DVT usually occurs in the large veins in a person’s leg and can cause the area to swell. The painful condition can also cause the clot to break off and move throughout the body. When this occurs, it is called an embolism and this condition can be fatal if it travels to a vital organ. Because of this, a DVT requires prompt treatment so that severe damage does not occur from it.

Blood clotting has recently been linked to the use of Yasmin birth control. If someone you love has taken Yasmin and suffered a DVT as a result, you need representation on your side at this time that may be able to help you receive the compensation you deserve. Pfizer may face lawsuits after birth control recall

Posted on February 8th, 2012 No Comments

Last week, Pfizer announced the recall of over one million packs of birth control pills after it was discovered that a packaging error could have resulted in a wrong amount of hormone pills in each package.

Officials are now concerned that the faulty packaging may cause lawsuits to be filed that claim “wrongful pregnancy.” The recall affected of Lo/Ovral-28 tablets and the packs were supposed to have 28 hormone pills and seven inactive pills.

The packaging issue left some packs with more than 28 active pills and some with less. If a woman does not take enough of the hormone pill, unwanted pregnancy could occur. Pfizer noticed the problem quickly and announced the recall, but most of the packages were already sold and some are worried that women will see the affects of the mistake.

Another birth control pill that has been the center of lawsuits is Yasmin, manufactured¬† by Bayer Pharmaceuticals. These pills have been connected to the development of certain serious side effects such as blood clot and stroke and if you have developed one of these, you need representation on your side that is committed to helping those who have suffered from another’s negligence.
